General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon

The F-16 was designed in the early 1970s as an alternative to fighter aircraft that had grown increasingly heavy and unmaneuverable.

Original production models included the F-16A (single-seat combat version) and the F-16B (combat-capable two-seat trainer). In the 1980s, the F-16C/D models with improved avionics and engines were introduced.

Since its first production order in 1975, more than 4,500 F-16s have been produced for 26 nations.

Today, some F-16 aircraft are being converted to QF-16 drones to use as aerial targets.
