The B-36 Peacemaker "City of Fort Worth" at GSW Airport

For several years, the last plane in the Convair B-36 Peacemaker series, a retired B-36J with serial number 52-2827, and inscribed as the "City of Fort Worth", was on static display at the Greater Southwest International Airport (GSW).

It had been loaned to the City of Fort Worth on February 12, 1959.

After GSW closed in 1974, the B-36 was moved, and valiant attempts over the years by local groups to maintain the plane, and keep it in Forth Worth, were not successful.

The plane suffered the ravages of time, the weather, neglect and vandalism.

Transfer of the B-36 from Fort Worth to Tucson

In 2008, the Air Force transferred the airplane to the Pima Air and Space Museum, adjacent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

It was restored, and placed on display in October, 2009.

It is only one of four surviving B-36 Peacemakers.
